What actually happens at Trezor.io/start®?
Short answer: the official page reads your computer, hands you the correct Trezor Suite build, and walks you through the first fifteen minutes of owning a hardware wallet.
Trezor.io/start® is the official onboarding address for a Trezor device. Instead of a download folder full of installers, it detects your operating system and points you to the right version of Trezor Suite — the desktop and web app that talks to your device. From there the flow is linear: plug in, verify the firmware signature, set a PIN, and generate your recovery seed.
The important part is what the page doesn't do. There is no account to create, no email to confirm, no cloud backup of your keys. Your private keys are generated on the hardware itself, inside a secure element, and they stay there. The website is an installer and a guide — never a custodian.

Do I need an account, email or phone number?
No. Setup creates no online account and asks for no personal details. Your wallet exists on the hardware and in your paper backup — nowhere else.
Will any step ask for my recovery seed?
Never. Writing the words down and confirming them on the device screen are the only places the seed appears. Any page, chat or "support" contact requesting those words is a phishing attempt — close it.
